William E. "Newt" Deese

William E. "Newt" Deese, age 86, a native of Vinegar Bend and resident of Citronelle, AL., died Saturday, October 9, 2010, at his residence. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. He was a WWII Army Veteran and a member of American Legion Post 164 and VFW. He is survived by his daughter, Mary Ann George Bailey and her husband, Ralph Dumas of Spanish Fort, AL.; two sons, Gerald Deese and his wife, Martha of Citronelle, AL. and Michael Deese of Ocean Springs, MS.; sister, Lois Dobson of Mobile, AL; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends. A wake will be from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, October 11, 2010 at Freeman Funeral Home. The Funeral service will be at Freeman Funeral Home at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, October 12, 2010 with Rev. Marcus Hobbs officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Ricky Eddins, Sidney Mason, Eddie Turner, Milton Turner, N.J. Dobson and Danny Roberts. Active pallbearers will be Amber L. Deese, Ralph Dumas, Donnie Cunningham, Myles Smith, Kenny Blount and Joseph Best. Interment will be at Weldy - Deese Family Cemetery in Deer Park, AL.
