William Lee Melton, 90, a native of Pine Apple, AL and resident of Citronelle, AL died Monday, April 9, 2012, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Melton was a World War II United States Army veteran and member of First Baptist Church of Citronelle, American Legion Post #164 and Citronelle Lodge #637 F&AM. He worked as an aircraft mechanic at Brookley Field and retired from civil service at Warner Robbins Air Force Base. Mr. Melton was preceded in death by his wife, Adele Young Melton. He is survived by his daughter, Kaye M. Beaty of Atlanta, GA.; granddaughter, Rhonda B. (Anderson) McNees of Citronelle, AL.; grandson, William D. "Billy" (Kate) Beaty III of Atlanta, GA.; three great-grandchildren, Brooke, Ashley and Will; and other relatives and friends. A Wake will be from 6 - 9 pm Thursday, April 12, 2012 at First Baptist Church of Citronelle. The Funeral Service will be 11:00 am Friday, April 13, 2012 at the church with Rev. Charles Griffith & Dr. Elbert Charpie officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Marvin Platt, Bob Hovatter, George Rowell, Charlie Turner, Ferris Lee, Ed Lynd, Billy Beaty and Anderson McNees. Active pallbearers will be Beverly Platt, Phil Platt, Tommy Phillips, Lane Lawley, Phillip Platt, Tim Lee, Ben Lawley and Lance Lawley. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials may be made to the American Legion #164 Honor Guard, William F. Green State Veterans Home or First Baptist Church - Citronelle Building Fund.
