Woodie Eugene Davis

Woodie Eugene Davis, a resident of Chunchula, Alabama, passed away Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at Springhill Medical Center in Mobile, Alabama. He was 81 years old. Woodie was born January 22, 1936, to Carl and Maudria Davis. After high school, Woodie received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Alabama, and then went on to serve his country as a Commander in the United States Navy. Woodie also received his master’s degree from the Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. He was the owner of Davis’ General Store in Chunchula. Woodie was preceded in death by his children, Ronald Kenneth Davis and Richard Christopher Davis. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Leslyee Davis; daughter, Melissa Davis Spann; grandchildren, Drake Davis, Dakota Davis, Dominic Davis, Roni Spann, and Kiley Spann; siblings, Gloria Jones and Kenneth Davis; and other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends from 10am until 11am Saturday, May 20, 2017, at Freeman Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow in Gulfcrest Cemetery.
